I already had an affinity for pretty messes (just take a look at my blog logo), but I first took notice of my love for scribbles about a year ago, when I saw Anna Dorfman post a shot of her cool black diamond ring. In the photo you could see her forearm where she had applied the Tattly ‘scibble’ tattoo (designed by James Victore).

I remember just staring at the photo for a minute, falling in love with the tattoo. I thought, what an amazing idea for something like a tattoo which is typically so meaningful and permanent.

It was so ironic I knew I was in love.

Over the last year, I’ve been going through a lot of positive changes. I finally took control of my mood disorder and started taking Prozac, which I discuss here). I am by no means saying that drugs are for everyone, but so far it has been working wonders for me. I have become more confident and no longer wonder how I’m going to feel each day. Sure, I still have bad days but I can handle them. The best thing that has happened is I got out of my own way. I’ll just leave it at that because I think it says a lot.

So, a few months ago, I took my new attitude and got my own scribble tattoo on my wrist (a permanent one). It hurt really fucking bad, but it was totally worth it! It’s my ode to irony and my little reminder that not everything has to be so serious and certainly not perfect.
