If you follow me on Twitter, then you know what shameful thing I did last night. I threw away some cookies and since I know myself so well, I also squeezed soap over them. Shameful, I know. But if you’ve ever laughed (and cried) at the  Sex and the City episode where Miranda is experiencing a chocolate craving, then you understand.

The problem is that I don’t just go for the sweets, I love savory foods too. Over the last couple years I’ve gained weight and I’m not happy about it. I keep trying to lose weight and then I gain it back, plus some.

This morning I got up and went for a run. Which is rare for me. I never feel motivation on a Friday, it’s always Sunday or Monday. But I’m tired of feeling this way. I’m tired of feeling strange in my own body.

Last night I found a blog post from Bri Emery, thanks to my friend and fellow blogger Lesley Myrick. The post is a couple years old, but she talks about how she lost 30 lbs. 30lbs folks! That’s about how much I want to lose, but it seems daunting. What struck me the most about the post was that she admitted to loving certain foods and that she still eats them. She just shifted her way of life. And since the post is so old, it also proved to me that the way she did it works because she still looks great.

There’s one more thing I learned from her post. She described a funny technique that helped her lose the weight… She took a nude photo of herself each week. The way we see ourselves in mirrors is not always accurate, but the photos don’t lie. It also provided a small weekly goal to look better in each photo.

Today I took my first photo.

I took a photo too.

It ain’t pretty!

I’m glad I have an old digital camera to use for it – I would NOT want that photo on my iPhone where someone could potentially see it! #awkward

We can encourage each other through this process. GO CORI! xo

Yeah, maybe I should email them to myself. Although I did keep my panties and sports bra on. Still super awkward.

[…] It’s finally Friday again. Fridays are coming so fast it’s scary. No plans tomorrow, but of course Sunday is Easter. We’ll be meeting my parents at San Juan Capistrano for mass (if we can get up early enough) and then head to the BEST brunch spot ever, Cedar Creek Inn. Their crab cake eggs benedict are out of this world. However, I may get something a little healthier this time, per this post. […]
